# Desktop app

> Install SelfTune Desktop for a local visual skill-management workflow.

Desktop packages the local SelfTune runtime and dashboard in one native app. It
uses the same local skills and data as the CLI.

## Install

Download the installer for your platform from the
[latest GitHub release](https://github.com/selftune-dev/selftune/releases/latest):

* macOS: Apple silicon or Intel DMG;
* Windows: x64 installer; or
* Linux: x64 AppImage or Debian package.

On first launch, review which agent histories, hooks, and background behaviors
you want to enable. They are separate choices.

## Verify

The app should discover installed skills before it has observed a session. A
new installation may therefore show skills with a no-data state. Confirm that
the Status page reports a healthy local runtime and that the Skills page lists
the expected source locations.

Use Desktop when you want a local UI. Use [CLI and headless use](/run/cli) for
servers, CI, or scripts.

Confirm operating system and architecture before selecting an installer.
Prefer the signed asset from the latest official GitHub release. During
onboarding, explain history import, hooks, observability, recommendations, and
autonomous improvement separately. Keep optional remote-library setup disabled
unless requested.
